| Do you work from the actual photograph or must I send the negative or slide? Our digital watercolor renderings can be produced from prints, negatives, slides, transparencies or digital photography (see digital photo requirements below). Polaroid and other "instamatic" types of photos including low resolution digital photos are not appropriate. Pictures should be sharp, well-lit with the subject matter filling most of the frame. 3x5 prints work fine, but generally speaking 4x6 to 8x10 photos will yield the best results. Can you make changes or repairs on my photo before making the print? Definitely! Removing simple background distractions such as telephone poles and power lines is included in the price of the watercolor rendering... however, extensive and custom photo manipulation is also available. Whether you want to add or remove photo elements, repair scratches, tears or other damage, or perhaps you would like to swap a drab background for something more dramatic. Our artistic team can perform an impressive variety of digital miracles. Telephone or e-mail quotes on custom photo manipulation are gladly given upon receipt of your photograph. Additionally, you will be able to preview the modifications online before any work is finalized. Can I use this same watercolor art on my Christmas cards or stationary? That's a great idea! After your watercolor rendering is complete applying the new art to cards and stationary is a wonderful way to share your new treasure with others. Call or e-mail us at Waterpainter.com about how your custom watercolor art can be used! Coming soon is the Waterpainter.com Stationary Shop where you can order Custom postcards, notecards, business cards and stationary online! Please note that all digital rendering files are copywritten and are the property of Waterpainter.com unless otherwise stipulated to at the time of the sale. Are you able to do anything special with Black and White photos? The same rendering process used to convert color photos into watercolor art has a dramatic "ink wash" effect on black and white photos. Additionally, we can tint the monochromatic tones in a black and white project to achieve stunning sepia, rose and other subtle color finishes. What kind of photographs work best for watercolor rendering? Pictures that are well focused and have good lighting work best. The nature of the watercolor rendering will soften some of the detail in every photo. This "painterly" effect accounts for the dramatic change that transforms your photos of architecture, nature, and inanimate objects like cars, boats and motorcycles, into works of art! Photos of pets and other animals also make wonderful subjects. What if I'm just not sure which photo is best... can I send more than one? You bet! We take excellent care of your originals and we will gladly call you upon receipt to discuss photo selection, cropping, manipulation, etc. All your original material is returned with the delivery of your order. What if I want to do my own matting and framing? We are confident that matting and framing your prints with us will save your money, but we realize that tastes differ and our frame and mat selections will not satisfy everyone. That's why we offer unframed renderings wrapped, shipped and delivered in a sturdy mailing tube right to your door. We welcome your e-mail comments regarding additional frame and mat choices you'd like to see. How do I place an order? 1. Complete the order form and print a copy (or submit it electronically). 2. Select the photo and prepare it for mailing or e-mailing. 3. Enclose your payment or payment method and drop it in the mail! How long does it take for my order to arrive? You can expect your framed watercolor rendering to arrive via UPS within 2 weeks after receiving your order (slightly longer during the month of December). What if I think of another question later? No problem! You can e-mail us at mail@waterpainter.com or give us a call toll free at 866-323-6880 and we will be happy to answer your questions. |
